Scoping a SaaS MVP Before Development
Define the first user journey, core data, permissions, billing needs, and launch constraints before building a product.

Decide what the first version must prove
Write down the user, the problem they need to solve, and the smallest useful flow that lets them solve it. Keep later ideas in a separate list so the first release has a clear boundary.
Sketch the screens and the information each screen needs. This often reveals questions about roles, account setup, data ownership, and notifications before those questions become code changes.
A useful MVP is a focused product slice with a known user and a way to learn from usage.
Make operational decisions part of scope
Choose how users sign in, what data the application stores, how billing works, and who can access administrative tools. Identify external services and the accounts required to connect them.
Before launch, agree on deployment, backups, monitoring, documentation, and source-code handover. A delivery estimate depends on the selected features, decisions, and integrations.
